Hello PR people! =)
I would like to share with you my experience of working on Sun Resorts' (my placement) newsletter.
In the first place, I did learn a lot on the company's CSR activities and how making a newsletter involves several decisions to be taken into account before the final product can get into stakeholders' hands!
The company's newsletter is entitled "We Care" and lists the activities carried out by Sun Resorts which serve the community.
I have been working on the upcoming newsletter contents as well as design.
The anecdote concerning the newsletter making is that one day I had to go for an interview with someone regarding the newsletter.
That person had to be interviewed since she is responsible of one of the social centres sponsorised by Sun Resorts.
We had to gather information with her to be able to write a news story which would be published in the newsletter.
The meeting was at Tamarin, in the West coast of Mauritius and basically I had to do the interview with the assistance of Jean Joseph Permal, a reknown journalist who is the godfather of SR's newsletter.
The annoying then which turned out fun now part is that I went there on time but the journalist came 45 minutes late.
I had to wait for him in the soaring sun of tamarin.
When he came, he told me that he broke his tooth while slipping and that I willl have to do the interview on my own. =)
It clearly stressed me but as an end result, I managed to conduct the interview on my own and it was a real pleasure but as well as a concrete real life experience.
I somewhat feel proud about it.
This was one of my placement's anecdote which served me right.
All the best with the final report!
Urvi
