This post is about my time at work last week.
Was feeling utterly exhausted as I was asked to distribute posters to all the cafes in Fremantle. I thought it was a good chance for me to grab some fresh air out of the office after all the media releases while still doing some work but I thought wrong. It ended up being more tiring. I have actually underestimated the size of Fremantle and it took me around 3 hours to get only 10 cafes to put our posters up. But it did give me a chance to have a good look at Fremantle after three years of staying in Perth.
And now I understand that it is not always easy to communicate exactly what you want with people. Many do not allow us to put these posters up and some would even talk impolitely when asked. Also, many businesses there are not happy with this event bringing more people in as it will clog the place up. They see it as being bad for business because they are not able to provide enough for all the visitors and feel that there would be transportation issues and accomodation issue which will give a bad impression to these people and thus brining down their business reputation. I think this is a big issue we have to solve as they are stakeholders as well, and should communicate with the Fremantle council to discuss and think of ways to handle it.
By the way, Leuwin Estate is producing two signature wines to help promote the 'Perth 2011' event which are a 2010 Sauvignon Blanc Semillon and a 2004 Cabernet Merlot. Each bottle of these wines has a sailing photograph displayed on the label in front and the Event info at the back of the bottle. Be sure to try them if you're a wine lover!
Here's a sample of what they look like:

Lastly, what I want to say is the end of my internship is approaching, and I just want to express that this opportunity would definitely be a unforgettable memory in my life. It has given me an insight into what working as a PR practitioner is like in the real world and of course many other life lessons too many to list. And it's just so much fun working with these people and for this event.
Till the next post! C ya
XOXO
Eva
