And the media?

Good day.
Today i want to reflect on media relations.during my time of replacement media relations was one of those aspects i struggled to wrap around my finger. The PR sector find it a need to engage media relations only when they want to place ads, anouncements and media releases but they fail to respond in times of crises. The point i am trying to get at is that there was failure to deal with bad publicity and conduct conferences just to share with different media structures.
BR was at a time where it faced multiple media attacks but there was failure to nalify the misconceptions published. And i believe this shows an ignorant feature of media relations and how to deal with public issues.
So in this way i still emphasise the need to understand public relation roles and what these roles can do for every organisation.how do you rate the value of media relations in an organisation like BR that holds the name of the country.
Thank you and please do share your views.

Organisations only want to relate with media when they have information they want to disperse to their various stakeholders yet they do not have in place proper media monitoring responsible for keeping the statistics.

Negative allegations are time and again leveled against organisations including the government yet there is minimal or no action taken to clarify or clean up the damage hence damaging the reputation and image of the organisation.

I feel that lack of knowledge driven by ignorance is killing the under-developing PR practice.

i will believe that in some developing countries like Botswana, there is a a blurred line between PR and human resources.most organisations are still more focused on HR and so naive about PR and i really blame the system because HR is such a broad field and PR has a more distinct identity, in times of crisis it is very rare for organisations that are more into HR to practice PR ethics like transparency and communication , right now what we need is graduates like you and me to revitalize image building and give it a brand new tag
