Hi everyone,
It is important to stress that public relations is not about dealing with ‘the public’ but instead many different groups of people – suppliers, employees, political bodies, local residents, among many others. Different groups – or publics have different information needs and have different demands on an orgnisation. Understanding these differences is a vital skill of PR and the staffs of any companies need to be well equip to know how to deal with these different groups. Knowing how to address and deal with your stakeholders is crucial especially when there is a crisis. Training is very important and keeping everyone in the office up to day with the strategies and changes in an office is important as well. So no-one i feels left out.

It's certainly true that all stake holders must be treated differently according to who they are. The company I'm placed with (HWE Mining) have a chart showing their most commonly interacted with publics and the different strategies they use to keep them happy. It's a bit of an art form of social science really!
