Fun in the office!

Hello to everyone again,

I hope you are all still enjoying your placements. I am definitely falling in love with the ins and outs of daily office life. Today was a great but busy day involving a bit of printing, emailing and organising for the photo shoot we have booked for tomorrow.

Just to recap, I am doing my placement at Hollywood Private Hospital with their marketing department. I am really liking the fact that I can tap into the different sides of the department from PR to marketing to events.

But back to the exciting part about the photo shoot. It will run all day from 9am until 5pm at a studio close to the office. In the last week, I have been running around the hospital, like a mad woman, collecting IV bags and stands, stethoscopes and knee bandages as props for the shoot. The talent we are using are actually staff members that represent different areas of the hospital. We have asked four nurses to be involved for one of the shots we need. However, today I had a short little panic as it was my job to call around to them and confirm the time and place for tomorrow and one of the ladies didn't let us know she was actually working. As my boss knew she had made it clear that we were under the impression she was free to help out, we were both stunned. Anyway without further ado, I dialed away the numbers on the phone and tried my hardest to find any twenty-something, photogenic nurse who was free for tomorrow morning. Crisis averted! After four options, luck had struck and we now thankfully have everyone needed for the shoot. That was my little triumph of the day- I know its only little but you know how those sorts of speed bumps feel like a mountain at the time.

After tomorrow, it will be back to the office but I am excited to get stuck back into helping with small tasks that can help the team run smoothly.

On a side note, after the big spiel about the photo shoot, something else exciting did happen today. I emailed out a hospital wide email for the ZING, which is Hollywood's fortnightly highlights, to all the staff today. It was the project of last weeks, where I had to compile all of the stories into its format and was also able to write up a few for it myself. It was just nice to see the project grow from beginning to end. I have now taken it up as my little project and can hopefully have another great one ready for next fortnight. Again, it is just something little but I feel like all of these little victories add up to a feeling of satisfaction and make me feel a bit 'grown up' if I am able to use that term loosely.

Well that is all from me at the moment but watch this space and I will keep you updated on the daring day of the photo shoot that lies tomorrow.

All the best!

Kate that is great experience for you. We have a newsletter that we send out monthly to staff, I am interested to know if you measure or evaluate following its distribution?

We did this at my firm a little while back and it is interesting to see what days of week people read the newsletter, how many delete or how many read it more than once. There is a software called Concep that does this well.

Jess! Great to hear from you. Hope everything is going well for you :D
I don't think they do measure the response to the newsletter at the moment but that's a great idea. I'll bring that up with my boss and see what they think about it. There seems to be a bit of interest in it around the hospital but actually having figures and research to show for it would be really beneficial.
Thanks Jess :D
