getting a little kick out of seeing articles in the paper

Hello everyone,

I have just been notified that the press releases I wrote for abi and joseph regarding their latest collection has been picked up and used in both The Cambridge Post Newspaper and The Herald Newspaper. It was quite exciting to see my work reproduced in something that people actually read!

I've put the link on here for The Post. Page 61. 10 September 2011 and it has been published on Page 61 incase anyone would like to have a look and the other one is below.

The press release was to announce the labels latest collection of 'organic' yoga clothing. This collection was designed in alliance with Sea Shepherd Conservation Society - with 10% of all proceeds donated to Sea Shepherd.

I'm not particularly keen on who ever came up with that title "Wear it for the Whales"! I guess this is an example of public relations being an uncontrolled form of communication. Personally, I would not have chosen that title or a few of the words used within the article. However, I am still happy to see it out there! Exciting to see the fruits of my labour!

Hi Erin,

First of all, congratulations on getting your press release picked up and in two newspapers! Good work, the client should be stoked! :)
The article looks great. It is such a great feeling when you achieve something like that. How did you go about getting the media release to the journalist? Did you liaise with them directly/follow up or just send it off and hope for the best?
I have been writing a LOT of media releases as I'm at a very small consultancy which has 12 clients, a few articles have gone in the paper very close to word for word, and because I'm studying journalism too has given me a lot more confidence in my PR and journalism abilities! :)

That is definitely an accomplishment. Must feel great to put in effort and to get them noticed as well. :)

Thankyou Sam, Thy and Natasha - I was and am still stoked!

Sam - I emailed my press release release through to the editors of both newspapers.

I did follow it up yes, just once, and was lucky enough that they used them!

Congratulations on getting a few of yours published too (and close to word for word wahoooo!) that's fantastic, it is definitely a little confidence boost!
