Pop- up Stores, Parties and Pressure.

Pop- up Stores, Parties and Pressure.

Well I am now at the end of my fourth week of interning and what a whirlwind it has been. I was given the news that the company was set to launch their latest project, a temporary pop-up store in the heart of the city…One week from the events scheduled date!

Let the pressure begin. From being given tasks such as creating enticing event invitations to lure members of the press as well as customers, to developing propositions to find potential alcohol sponsors, to organising liquor licensing, to replying to various call outs requiring all forms of details and imagery this week has surely kept me on my toes. I have learnt that it is extremely important or as we have been told numerous times throughout all PR units, the importance of continuous proof reading and attention to detail!

Thursday had finally come and after the short notice of our PR blast announcement to the members of the press and to customers’ only 2 days prior, we had a surprisingly sufficient turnout with a few press members that showed.

It is now time to move forward to our second launch party evening including the opening of all of the pop-up stores within the precinct, which is a private listed event. My tasks this week require the organisation of gift bags for attendees, finding a photographer, continuing to keep up with requests for information regarding our latest project as well as maintaining contact with the PR department in charge of the precinct and collaborating brands being stocked within the store. It has been immensely vital to maintain communication over this past week with the PR department in charge of the precinct, as any documents regarding information about the precinct must be approved to ensure the appropriate messages are being conveyed.

The shop fit for this upcoming temporary pop- up store is ecologically inspired focusing on the use of recycled packing pallets, pine construction materials and a few grand tip finds. It has been extremely exciting to be involved with the pop-up store launches and I am certainly looking forward to Tuesday evening.

Below are a couple of images of the pop-up store coming together!

Well that’s all for now, more to come very soon! J

Wow sounds like you had a great deal of experience and it must have been nice being part of the launch team and being assigned all those big tasks.

Wow that must have been an exciting event to organise! I have definitely learned that attention to detail is key for events, there is so much more to think about than you first realise. However, it's always so rewarding when you see it come together at the end!

Good luck with the rest of the your placement, I hope it all goes well.
