THE BRILLIANT PROPOSAL

 Boipelo Candy Michael

LUCT

When I asked the PR officer, MRS. Nyatshane about their major competitors, she told me that they are still struggling with the Local farmers because they sell their production straight to the community and it is affecting the performance of BAMB in terms of profit. I suddenly thought of an idea to make sure that BAMB maintains its profit every year.

I thought of contract farming. This is an agreement the farmer and Botswana Agricultural Marketing Board that makes sure that the farmer supplies BAMB with a certain amount of production and the prices are already set at the beginning of each year so that the farmer can also know how much they will be getting for their hard work. This way, both parties win, BAMB does not lose its profit and the same applies to the farmer.

I had to pass the proposal to the Marketing Director and he approved it. It was good to hear him say "this is a brilliant idea!" I finally felt that I am ready to work, not just to be an intern. After he approved the idea, he set up a meeting with the board members to discuss the whole idea. i did not attend the meeting since i traveled to Palapye with the PR officer  for another meeting, but i was pleases to get a phone call from the Marketing manager telling me that the board members liked the idea.

Thank you for reading, til next time.

wow, that was so thoughtful of you, making sure that the interest of your stakeholders are met instead of just considering the best for your company alone.
It will strengthen good relations between the farmers and the organisation because they are boh benefiting
