Early in
the morning, I was told by Yii Yang that there would be crews from the Asia
Business Channel coming to the campus for a documentary video shooting that day
and I was asked to follow him to meet up with the crews. As a mass communication
student who majored in FTV units, I was very happy to be given this opportunity to take a look on how's real life production company actually work and possibly to learn some skills from the crews. At the same time, I was nervous
because I worried about that if the crews have any inquires or maybe any emergency situations that would have occurred and I was unable to manage them well, it would probably bring embarrassing or even bring disaster for the school image. Hence, it is quite important that public relations practitioners need to train themselves to become quick thinker and are able to empower the skill of communication. Fortunately everything went smooth through all the day.
We waited the crews in front of the Curtin reception. With a friendly smile and hands shake before we started our conversation. Ms Mira Gojkovic was the producer and George,
the camera person for the documentary production. Both of them were freelance photographers from Belgium and
were currently recruited by the ABC station, Asia Business Channel, which is an independent production company specialized in producing programs that focus on the economic development as well as the sights and sounds of countries in focus. These special programs are aired on a regular basis on Asia's premiere television network, Channel News Asia, so they were working on a documentary about the University in Malaysia
The crews requested to record some footage from the campus, hence Yii Yang and me became the tour guides and led them around
the campus. Throughout the process, I found
that, as a public relations practitioner, we have to be aware on a lot of
current affairs and should have fully understanding of the company we work with
because we never know what kind of questions the clients would ask. Once again, communication skill is very important.

Before they left, Ms Gojkovic passed me her name card and she would probably send a copy of the video to the school after it has completed. It was a very new experience for me and i get to know more about my school.
