First Entry: Stepping into the PR World

Hey fellow interns!

I’m glad to be able to get to know about your experiences into your new working world and I would like to share my own, right here, right now. I’m Angel Issory, a full time student at Charles Tefair Institute, doing a degree in Tourism, Events Management and Public Relations. I am presently doing my internship at Imagine Communications. I embarked for this new adventure on the 2nd of September.

I realized this was all about serious matter right before I started working. The interview itself was demanding and professional. On my first day I had to sign a confidentiality agreement and I had to familiarize myself with all of Imagine Communications’ clients before getting my scissors ready to cut out newspaper articles.
My first task consisted in classifying the different media clippings relative to our clients. File record and archiving was my routine job for my first week.

The steps respective to archiving was as follows:

Step 1: Cut out the newspaper article and paste it on an A4 paper to be kept in the archive. (Scans were made for articles including more than one client)
Step 2: The information about media clipping then needs to be recorded onto the computer.
Step 3: The articles are then classified as the per our clients’ folder.
The people there are remarkably nice and they have greeted me with the warmest welcome. They were of great help and patience while I was learning the ropes. I tried to pay attention to every single thing they showed and taught me.

Stay tuned for more about my new journey.
