getting people involved

Hey Interns,

About halfway into my internship I went into the office for the Perth Ramble event as was firstly asked to make some calls to local and corporate businesses.

Making calls to these businesses was try to get further involvement from them, whether it be sponsorship or any volunteering they would be interested in.

Anthea gave me a whole list and many of the businesses were willing to help and wanted further information so they past on there email addresses to us and we sent them further details.

This was an important task because being a not-to-profit event it is crucial that funds continue to flow through the door and working with other businesses is a big part of that.

Once I was finished with my list I created some electronic newsletters. These newsletters were sent out to other businesses and my job was to make them about who Perth Rambles current sponsors and partners were. I ensured all the logos for the sponsors and partners were on there and all included a paragraph about their business and what they do. It is important to give the sponsors and partners recognition aswell to maintain and fair and balance relationship.

My last task for the day was updating their website. On there homepage, weeks leading up to the event they have posted about the specific parts of the event whether it be about registering, fundraising, getting involved. My post for the home page would be in regards to the big prize, a trip to Barcelona. I encourage everyone to get involved and to register and why they should fund-raise to have an opportunity to win this awesome getaway.

I really enjoyed doing their elctronic newsletters and website because it made me feel like a part of their team, knowing I could go onto their website and I can see the work that I had done for them.

hope you all enjoying your internship.

Hi Rhian,

I completed my internship last month at a not for profit organisation and we have very few sponsors. However,I do agree with you that it is important to maintain a good relationship with partners that are sponsoring your organisation. It means that they will be around for years, help increase awareness of the brand, which will in turn see a rise in donations and volunteers from the general public and stakeholders.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your internship.
