Hi Guys,
This blog is about media coverage, and how through my time at the club is very important to reputation and image. The West Perth Football Club has many avenues
to broadcast and promote the club. With recent deals with Channel Nine as a
major sponsor has helped the club immensely in both a financial point of view
and a communication tool to reach out to a wider audience. Channel Nine provided
the club with a certain amount of commercial availability to provide viewers a
chance to see upcoming events. For example, recently Channel Nine produced a
small advertisement to promote an actual game of footy held at the HBF Arena
(West Perth’s home ground). The direct result of this was a large audience that
turned up to the ground to support the Falcons. This relationship also resulted
in celebrities, such as Matt and Kim from the TV show “The Block”, to come down
and showcase one of the games.
Also having connections with online forums
such as perthnow.com.au also attracts people from social media websites.
Another avenue to reach out ad engage with current stakeholders and also the
possibility for new ones. Also broadcasting news through newspaper
organisations, such as The Joondalup Times and The Sunday Times, which always
has a column about the previous games results and also upcoming events for the
club.
It's great for the club to have these type of avenues to be able to promote the events coming up. For example for the Gala Dinner Auction which I have been working on, using these avenues will enable the club to receive a great amount of spotlight and hopefully success.
So far this internship has been a great understanding how certain aspects seem to work when relating to the theory we have been taught over the past few years. I am thoroughly enjoying my time at the West Perth Football Club.
Till next time, Sam!
